MUST EAT in Paris Van Jawa: BreadLife Green Tea Ice- cream, Fruity Juice & Mochi Mochi

OMG. I was about to blog about Penang then I realised that I have one more Bandung post to write! To think that I declared that my previous blog post is my last blog post, it's embarrasing LOL Anyway, this wouldn't be a long post, just to tie up some loose ends.

I'm hoping that we can only find BreadLife in Bandung because somehow it really looks very familiar. If I could find this bakery in Malaysia I'd not blog about it already haha I'm also very lazy to do a quick google on whether you can find it in Malaysia so I'm assuming that we can only find this in Bandung okay!

I was there in the bakery for ice- cream. Yup, you heard me correctly. Not buns but ice- cream!! Talking about buns, it reminds me of my new friend Suba who LOVES buns! Gaya would pack buns home for her when we were out.

I though that I should have a picture of buns since it's after all a bakery. By the time I was there, around 7pm there weren't many buns left so I didn't buy any. I think when buns, or in fact any products, are finishing they look kinda sad:S

And that's why Magnum Cafe Malaysia always tops up their toppings frequently, not leaving any half empty. This makes their shop's products look alive and happy!

If I've not mistaken they are rather popular for their ice- cream despite the fact that they are bakery. I had to queue for the ice- cream! They have green tea ice- cream, vanilla ice- cream or you would request for a swirl of green tea and vanilla! 

Obviously I asked for the green tea swirl because I wanted the best of both worlds LOL The ice- cream was as good as the green tea ice- cream that they sell here in Malaysia but for a fraction of it's price! 

The soft cream green tea ice- cream here cost about RM4.50 to RM6!! But I think I paid about RM2 for my ice- cream at BreadLife and it tasted very Matcha natural.

Talking about juice, I've quickly deviate from the ice- cream topic to the juice topic :P Also at Paris Van Jawa, I saw this ice blended juice stall in the mall but I did not try it till the second last day there in Bandung because it looks like something that I could easily get back home.

Thank God I decided to give it a shot on the second last day there because I would mad regret if I didn't! 

The juice was absolutely yummy!!! I've no idea what these Indonesian people put in their food and drink but they make the ordinary extraordinary!!

Initially, the plan was for me to get more avocado juice before I leave Bandung because the avacado juice in Bandung is super delicious yet super cheap!!! It's probably half of the price in Malaysia! 

But unfortunately (or fortunately) the lady said that she ran out of Avacado. That, or the avacado hasn't arrived, I forgot. So I asked her to recommend me a drink from the menu since there were so many!

So she recommended Vanilla Wildberries! According to her lots of people like it so I'm like okay, let's give it a shot! The drink wasn't priced as cheap as I thought it would be, about RM7 I think. Maybe because it's in Paris Van Jawa but after having my first slurp I was like.. TAKE ALL MY MONEYYYYY lmao

I thought it will turn out sourish because there were two types of berries involved. I also thought that it would turn out like Juice Work's Water Berry texture (Like water-ish instead of creamy). 

But...

WTF! It was so vanilla- ish creamy with this very fragrant berry scent! And when you slurp it down, got something to munch on one (jelly!). How come so yummy???? *Mindfucked

Also, also... if you're at Paris Van Jawa you should try out their Mochi!!!! It's also sold in a stall/ cart at the same area as that Fruity Juice stall.

Again, I didn't want to buy it at first because we have so many mochi shops back in Malaysia but Gaya told me that this was the best and when I just couldn't be bothered to buy, she bought some for me HAHAHHAA

Gaya's treat! 

OMFG. This is really good!! The dough is so soft like baby's butt! And when you chew on it, it's very easily eaten unlike some that has too chewy dough. Plus! They are very generous with the fillings! I think mine was pandan!

Nothing like I've eaten before! Ohhhh, sooo gooood I tell you! Good thing Gaya bought it for me despite my stubbornness! Moral of the story- Trust locals!

Okay, that's all! Off to my Penang post!

p.s. I miss you Bandung food, if not for my US trip I'd buy a flight ticket back to Bandung early next year before Gaya comes back to Malaysia for good!

4DX Movie Experience @ Blitzmegaplex, PVJ

Life is treating me well in November! I'm feeling the Christmas mood already. Also, it's now the season for holiday so I'm very sure lots of you are clearing your leaves for a beach vacation of some sort! 

I'm too clearing my leave, lmao. Not quite actually, but I'm on leave till next Monday:O Yikes! Good time passes so fast!

This is probably my last post on my Bandung trip back in June earlier this year. I actually have one more restaurant to review but then the pictures are not with me so until and unless I get them, I won't be writing :P

Back in Bandung, I had my first experience of watching a 4D movie at  Blitzmegaplex, Paris Van Java.

First movie in 4DX was The Transformers!

Blitz Card is a smart card. You reload money into it to purchase tickets and collect points. It's like Touch n Go + BonusLink LOL

Online Ticketing but somehow buying from the booth failed so Gaya got the person in charge to help with the transaction.

My 4DX ticket cost IDR240,000, equivalent to about RM73!!! The most expensive movie ticket that I've ever spent on in my entire 24 years of life!

I was hoping that they gave me prettier ticket stubs so that I could keep it as memento but even for RM73 per ticket they gave us flimsy paper as tickets, ughh. How to keep? All crumpled up and soggy by the time I came back home.

It was quite thrilling to watch Transformers in 4DX because since it's an action movie I felt that I was actually in the movie with all the chair shaking, chair drop, water splashing, dang high velocity wind blowing, so much smoke that the cinema hall looked like it was on fire!

But after an hour I got bored HAHAHAHA

The vigourous chair movement then started to feel a little uncomfortable and queasy because it strained my neck and my back (All the moving, shaking, sliding off the chair.. yes, you could slide off the chair!). 

Then In the next hour I nearly fell asleep because the movie was getting boring even with all the physical enhancement of the 4DX.

But all in all I still think that paying RM73 is worth it if you haven't experienced watching a good movie in 4DX before. But now that I've tried I don't think I'll be spending that much again for a 4D movie.

That's why I haven't been very interested in the D-Box offered by GSC. I think for me watching real good movies in IMAX 3D is more than enough:)

Thank you Gaya once again! I'd never enjoy Bandung as much if it weren't for you!

p.s. One thing that I like about the 4DX movie experience is that their chair is looks freaking awesome! It's big and bulky that you would need to step up to climb into your seat. When I was seated, I felt like I've just climbed into some robot LOL Quite cool!

Funny, it's been 4 months and I have not completed my food blog based on my food trip in Bandung. There's just too many things to write about that I end up feeling lazy:S 

FYI, Starbucks Christmas drinks are out!!! And that means that my favourite Toffee Nut Frap is back for savouring! Just had my first Toffee Nut Latte of the year yesterday, so yummy! I still remembered bidding farewell to the drink last year (More like in January this year actually).

So some good things are always there to stay! Same goes for this bakery in Bandung that you must must visit! I heard and have seen people buying cakes in bulks to bring it back to their country! 

When I'm talking bulks, I mean like 10 cakes packed in those brown parcel boxes for shipping, nicely sealed and all. Think of that but like double or triple the amount:O

When I first entered the bakery I was stunned because there was simply too many varieties of confectionery to buy back home as souvenir!! It was my last day there in Bandung so I only had limited money to spend after keeping aside some spare cash at the airport later.

Those three pics above picturing the snacks being offered there at Kartika Sari is just the tip of the ice berg. Wait till you check out their selection of cakes e.g. Kek Kukus (Steamed Cakes), layered cakes and brownies!!!!

As you can see besides the above mentioned cakes they also had bite sized pastries like fruit tarts, croissants etc and... more cakes!!!! They also sell cakes in sliced in case you want to maybe try them first before purchasing 10 over boxes:S

I didn't bother trying before buying because I trusted Gaya hehe I just followed her recomendation and true enough they were all yummy! My favourite is the Brownies Kukus Pisang!! Good quality chocolate brownies with banana that wasn't too sweet. I found that the brownies that I bought was on the sweeter side.

So I came back to Malaysia and quickly store all my brownies properly in the fridge because I've read blogs that their cake/ brownies got mouldy when they reached home. I check and found that mine were all in very good condition. So I was happy.

The famous Pisang Sale Keju was not as good as I expected. There were lots of hoo-haa over this snack but I didn't find it crispy enough, instead it was very chewy. It also had this bad oil smell after a while though the expire date is long ahead. The plus point, it's banana! So you can snack without feeling too guilty LOL

The chocolate chip brownies was a little too dry for my liking but it still had that good quality chocolate taste, lots of chips, no scrooging in chocolate quality or quantity.

MOULDS!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooooooo... The cotton looking moulds so disgusting!! I was pretty upset because I liked this the most out of my other purchases. So what I did? I sliced off the top mouldy part and continue eating the rest of the brownies that weren't tainted, teehee.

So if you're buying back brownies as souvenirs maybe you shouldn't buy too many of the steamed ones because they are prone to get mouldy real fast. The baked ones are okay, actually I still have a few slice of them in my fridge now:X

I'm so hungry now I can eat a whole cow! Been having buffet cravings lately but buffets ain't cheap so I'll just have to wait till next month for my Dim Sum buffet! Talking about buffet, I'm still thinking whether I should blog about a birthday buffet that I had earlier in March this year? Hmm.

So the last few posts about Bandung, Indonesia. This was the second last night in Bandung if I have not mistaken. Off we went to Paris Van Jawa mall again because it's the closest mall- just one angkut ride away.

I think the purpose of me going there was to buy some groceries back to Malaysia. I always have this habit visiting supermarkets the night before I depart just to stash back some snacks.

Notice the hawker style trolley stall and the DIY curtains at the back. So much effort put in details.

I suppose their theme is vintage? They wanted to recreate the old school laid back feeling of dining at cheap stalls. Even their tables were wrapped in a floral printed table cloth that really enhanced the old school-ness of the place. Very lovely.

Those were the drinks that we ordered. Sukacau is soy bean drink with cincau, tasted better but it was decent enough. Actually I was thinking if I buy Yeo's soy bean and Cincau and then mix it together it would prolly taste better:|

Nasi Tutung Spesial, IDR37,000

This was either Gaya's or Darshini's dinner. Nasi Tutung sounds very cute LOL What you will get for about RM11 is steam rice, fried chicken (thigh), tempeh, keropok and sambal. The chicken thigh looks ridiculously small but the all the chickens there are about that size!

Gaya mentioned that those chicken are real chicken. Real chicken as in chickens that run free and are not injected with any antibiotic. So without the synthetic hormones, they grow up retaining their original size and not turned out to be some hulk- chicken.

I just noticed that it isn't just normal steam white rice if not they would have called it Nasi Putih instead of Nasi Tutug right? I googled and it says that this steam rice is cooked with oncom (fermented soybean, very much like tempeh).

I wasn't feeling so hungry that night so I decided to get duck for dinner without rice. I was a bit scared of rice by that time because I had rice for each and every meal except the first night where we had the most delicious BBQ Chicken with Cheese Dips!

Ughhh! Craving for Richeese's BBQ Chicken. Why don't they set up a franchise in Malaysia? Good food are meant to be shared no? lol

Btw, notice the plate that the duck is served in. So old school, I like!

Since this small piece of duck cost me abut RM9 so I have to post one more picture of it haha It tasted okay, not to bad but I have better braised duck back here in Malaysia. Actually, one of my ah kong's signature dish is braised duck! 

Now my mum has inherited the cooking skills for that dish. The only problem of passing down the recipe is that... there is no recipe. It's all based on taste and tell. It's no wonder I never cook according to exact measurements but would be able to recreate the dish anytime, it runs in the family LOL

I also ordered Batagor because the duck obviously wasn't enough. Batagor is one of the dish that I have been dying to try but the only problem is that I can't have roadside stall food because Gaya say that my tummy wouldn't be used to it. 

Finally got my Batagor here! Very yummy, I like it lots lots lots!! Tofu and tempeh and fishcakes battered and deep fried dipped in chili kicap sauce. MAD LOVES!

Gaya said that if this was fantastic for me, I'd go crazy if I taste the roadside stall's one because apparently there are 100x tastier than the one that I just had :O

Also ordered Tahu Samosa but this wasn't to my liking. The fillings were tofu bits and vege but it tasted too bland and the skin of the samosa was too thick for my liking. Good thing Gaya helped me finish it off.

Even if its about RM5 only but it's still money, its still food okay? If you see how kids on the street risking their lives jumping on and off the angkut just to get IDR2000 (about RM0.60) by playing music, you wouldn't want to waste even 1cm of your yucky samosa.

Bandung really humbled me.

The end! I'm going to make some homemade potato wedges to go with my nuggets for dinner tonight! A bit lazy, but I've got this whole bag of potatoes! :D

On the side note, I kind of envy my friends who got a chance at studying overseas. Like for Kave she got go drink barrels of super fresh milk and Gaya, the amount of yummy and cheap food that she got to eat for 5 years! Holy cow!

But then again, I'm thankful for what I have and so I'll travel more to make up for the uneaten food. Does that even make sense? haha
