Krispy Kreme Christmas Doughnuts 2014

'Tis the season to be jolly! Shalalalalalala replaced with... Donuts Donuts Donuts Donuts!

Krispy Kreme up and ready for Christmas!

Btw, tomorrow is graduation day!! And so I'll be wearing my beautiful long skirt made from Indonesian batik!!

Don't know why I still don't feel all that excitement though. Last year when I graduated for my Bachelors, I didn't feel excited as well but that's because I was caugh up with the crazy Honours workload. This time, no idea where the excitement went to as well? LOL

That aside, Krispy Kreme has Christmas donuts up for sale now!!!! I saw them at Midvalley just now so I had to drop by for one snack (though I'm suppose to be on a skinny diet for graduation).

Krispy Kreme Christmas Special Doughnuts!!

#1 Holiday Sprinkles & #2 Holiday Tree

Holiday sprinkles is like the normal sprinkle donuts but with Christmas coloured sprinkles on white chocolate LOL So like not worth the buy for me.

The Holiday Tree donut has CHEESE fillings!!! Sure super awesome one! But my heart wanted the Snowman more because the Holiday Tree is just a round shape donut with green cream piped on it :P

#3 Snowman

I had Snowman as my snack because they were so cuteeee! Also because they came with custard fillings and I love custard! Very light and smooth, yummeh!  I bite the head off first!!!! *The Grinch

Also see the snowman's red scarf? That's made from strawberry cream! It goes very well with the custard filling!

#4 Snowflakes

Snowflakes donut has a strawberry filling! I imagine it to be the same strawberry cream as the Snowman's scarf! If it's the same then the Snowflakes is a definite must have!

Promotion

If you buy 1 dozen of donuts (Must include 4 Christmas donuts) you will get 2 extra donuts FREE!! Also, they have this Buy 1 Free 1 Strawberry Vanilla Milkshake. Haven't tried their beverages though, it's always about the donuts for me at Krispy Kreme!

Cute, no?

Okay, sleeping time! Btw, Naomi photobombed my Snowman picture with her foot show casing that very much loved sandals lmao

4DX Movie Experience @ Blitzmegaplex, PVJ

Life is treating me well in November! I'm feeling the Christmas mood already. Also, it's now the season for holiday so I'm very sure lots of you are clearing your leaves for a beach vacation of some sort!

I'm too clearing my leave, lmao. Not quite actually, but I'm on leave till next Monday:O Yikes! Good time passes so fast!

This is probably my last post on my Bandung trip back in June earlier this year. I actually have one more restaurant to review but then the pictures are not with me so until and unless I get them, I won't be writing :P

If you haven't, and are curious read also about:

Back in Bandung, I had my first experience of watching a 4D movie at  Blitzmegaplex, Paris Van Java.

A glimpse of Blitzmegaplex

First 4DX movie!

First movie in 4DX was The Transformers!

Gaya buying our tickets online using Blitz Card

Blitz Card is a smart card. You reload money into it to purchase tickets and collect points. It's like Touch n Go + BonusLink LOL

Online Ticketing but somehow buying from the booth failed so Gaya got the person in charge to help with the transaction.

Cafe outside the Cinema

My 4DX ticket cost IDR240,000, equivalent to about RM73!!! The most expensive movie ticket that I've ever spent on in my entire 24 years of life!

I was hoping that they gave me prettier ticket stubs so that I could keep it as memento but even for RM73 per ticket they gave us flimsy paper as tickets, ughh. How to keep? All crumpled up and soggy by the time I came back home.

It was quite thrilling to watch Transformers in 4DX because since it's an action movie I felt that I was actually in the movie with all the chair shaking, chair drop, water splashing, dang high velocity wind blowing, so much smoke that the cinema hall looked like it was on fire!

But after an hour I got bored HAHAHAHA

The vigourous chair movement then started to feel a little uncomfortable and queasy because it strained my neck and my back (All the moving, shaking, sliding off the chair.. yes, you could slide off the chair!).

Then In the next hour I nearly fell asleep because the movie was getting boring even with all the physical enhancement of the 4DX.

But all in all I still think that paying RM73 is worth it if you haven't experienced watching a good movie in 4DX before. But now that I've tried I don't think I'll be spending that much again for a 4D movie.

That's why I haven't been very interested in the D-Box offered by GSC. I think for me watching real good movies in IMAX 3D is more than enough:)

Thank you Gaya once again! I'd never enjoy Bandung as much if it weren't for you!

p.s. One thing that I like about the 4DX movie experience is that their chair is looks freaking awesome! It's big and bulky that you would need to step up to climb into your seat. When I was seated, I felt like I've just climbed into some robot LOL Quite cool!

Seong Kee Yong Tow Foo @ PJ Old Town Market Foodcourt

I was thinking how fortunate housewives are these days.

Like earlier today I woke up at 12 noon (again, LOL) and then I sluggishly dumped my clothes and my detergent (for indoor clothes drying!) in the automatic washing machine and waited for my laundry to be done. When it beeped, I took my clothes out and... googled for the weather forecast today:P

Apparently it's high chances that it will be raining today with a humidity of 74% and wind 10km/h. So I decided to hang my clothes inside (turned fan on to mimic wind speed, wtf) instead of out so I won't have to rush downstairs like a mad woman to 'save' my clothes when it rains later.

Plus! Knowing the temperature of the day helps me to estimate how early in advance I should take out the chicken for defrosting too! See, what I say about fortunate housewives!

Btw, I'm not married. Just saying LOL

(In case the readers think I'm an irresponsible sluggish housewife who wakes up super late everyday and then stay at home doing nothing till Le Mari comes home)

Though not a housewife, I definately have some housewife traits like scrooging. This trait would probably impress my future MIL :X

Seong Kee Yong Tow Foo
Stall #35, PJ Old Town Market Food Court

Orange signboard makes the spot!

Since I was planning to have my Starbucks Christmas drink: The Toffee Nut Frappacino (Grande, RM16), I thought that I should only spend about RM7 for my lunch. So I decided to drive to PJ Old Town Market Food Court.

I googled and found that I could find yummy Yong Tau Fu here. Actually I was thinking more of Chee Cheong Fun but the lady said she don't have it anymore. So I settled for rice.

 Order chit

I was quite happy that the Yong Tau Fu seller was very friendly. I went over to her stall timidly because I couldn't see any Yong Tou Fu that I could point out to (Usually stalls display their Yong Tau Fu for self selection), I didn't see any price also so I couldn't gauge the price of my meal.

But she then quickly gave me the order chit so I was like phewww. Saved me from much awkwardness. I was so excited because I could see what to order and quickly write down the quantity of items I wanted, forgetting that I still don't know the price!

Anyway, my meal came 10 minutes later and OMG I think it's the freshest looking Yong Tau Fu I've ever seen!

RM13.80 for 2 Brinjals, 2 White tou fu, 2 Fishballs (which I didn't order but came with anyway), 3 Fu Chok and rice.

OMG. My budget was only RM7 so lunch exceeded by RM6.80:( But then the Yong Tau Fu was really big compared to the ones that I usually have at Damansara Uptown's foodcourt! So even if she charged me RM1.50- RM2 for an item it was worth it!

See the sweet sauce (brown sauce in the picture)? That's like super yummy!!!! Best sweet sauce ever tasted:') Goes with the fried chicken as well!!

Fried Yong Tau Fu items

I really really really loved the fried Fu Chok!

I love it because inside that very crispy soybean sheet, there's one big lump of fresh fish paste!!! So generous for this item seriously! Usually elsewhere, they would just swipe a bit of fishpaste inside just for the sake of it and charge you similar price.

Also, check out my favourite brinjal! I was soooo big that it look quite freaky to eat! LOL So worth the money spent la even if exceeded my lunch budget.

Soupy Yong Tau Fu items

The white tofu was freaking huge as well! Soft soft one with a big fat opening in the middle to stuff fish paste. Very very yummy!! The soup was flavourful but with zero MSG! Taste like homecooked soup! I loves

Fishball was okay la, I prefer fried fishball than fishball in soup. I'm an unhealthy eater :P

See? Fish paste overflowing!

Chicken wing RM2.80

And then we ordered 4 chicken wings from the same Yong Tau Foo shop because I read rather good reviews about it. Nearly ordered 6 out of excitement but good thing I listened to my sis and ordered 4 because by the time we ate the wings, we were both so full already.

The chicken wings were really crispy and the flesh falls off easily from the bone so you will waste nothing! The batter tasted of curry powder, it's no wonder its yellowish colour. But then this obviously can't beat my favourite ayam goreng from Nasi Kandar shops!

My sis' Bak Kut Teh meal from a Tai Tai looking lady a few shops away. It weirdly came with duck meat RM16

Sugar cane RM1.50 each

So in the end, my so called cheap lunch cost about RM20!!!! That's like nearly triple of my initial budget:( But then so yummy especially the Fried Fu Chok! So I didn't get Starbucks that day and I didn't have dinner too LOL Talking about scrooging, gah!

Kartika Sari, Bandung

Funny, it's been 4 months and I have not completed my food blog based on my food trip in Bandung. There's just too many things to write about that I end up feeling lazy:S

FYI, Starbucks Christmas drinks are out!!! And that means that my favourite Toffee Nut Frap is back for savouring! Just had my first Toffee Nut Latte of the year yesterday, so yummy! I still remembered bidding farewell to the drink last year (More like in January this year actually).

So some good things are always there to stay! Same goes for this bakery in Bandung that you must must visit! I heard and have seen people buying cakes in bulks to bring it back to their country!

When I'm talking bulks, I mean like 10 cakes packed in those brown parcel boxes for shipping, nicely sealed and all. Think of that but like double or triple the amount:O

Kartika Sari

Kartika Sari counter where there are super efficient

Snacks

More snacks

Snacks snacks snacks

When I first entered the bakery I was stunned because there was simply too many varieties of confectionery to buy back home as souvenir!! It was my last day there in Bandung so I only had limited money to spend after keeping aside some spare cash at the airport later.

Those three pics above picturing the snacks being offered there at Kartika Sari is just the tip of the ice berg. Wait till you check out their selection of cakes e.g. Kek Kukus (Steamed Cakes), layered cakes and brownies!!!!

Top row: Swiss rolls. Second row: Layered cakes (Kek Lapis). Third row: Brownies

Closer shot of the cake price. Each for about RM26
My buy: Brownies Chocolate Chip, IDR98,000

As you can see besides the above mentioned cakes they also had bite sized pastries like fruit tarts, croissants etc and... more cakes!!!! They also sell cakes in sliced in case you want to maybe try them first before purchasing 10 over boxes:S

Macarons too!

Whole cakes also!!!

Long tart? LOL That's how they described it

I didn't bother trying before buying because I trusted Gaya hehe I just followed her recomendation and true enough they were all yummy! My favourite is the Brownies Kukus Pisang!! Good quality chocolate brownies with banana that wasn't too sweet. I found that the brownies that I bought was on the sweeter side.

Banana brownies!
Brownies Kukus Banana, IDR35,000 (Apprx. RM10)

Also... Candy bar!

Customer's First Choice *thumbs up

Me outside Kartika Sari with my stash!

Cookies Kartika Sari IDR35,000 | Pisang Sale Keju IDR22,000

So I came back to Malaysia and quickly store all my brownies properly in the fridge because I've read blogs that their cake/ brownies got mouldy when they reached home. I check and found that mine were all in very good condition. So I was happy.

The famous Pisang Sale Keju was not as good as I expected. There were lots of hoo-haa over this snack but I didn't find it crispy enough, instead it was very chewy. It also had this bad oil smell after a while though the expire date is long ahead. The plus point, it's banana! So you can snack without feeling too guilty LOL

Snacking back in Malaysia: Chocolate Chip Brownies (left), Cheese Brownies (right)

The ranks according to my favourite: #1 Brownies Kukus Pisang #2 Cheese Brownies #3 Chocolate Chip Brownies

The chocolate chip brownies was a little too dry for my liking but it still had that good quality chocolate taste, lots of chips, no scrooging in chocolate quality or quantity.

Brownies Special Keju IDR 50,000

But... A few days later when I wanted to slice up my Steamed Banana Brownies, guess what I saw?

MOULDS!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooooooo... The cotton looking moulds so disgusting!! I was pretty upset because I liked this the most out of my other purchases. So what I did? I sliced off the top mouldy part and continue eating the rest of the brownies that weren't tainted, teehee.

So if you're buying back brownies as souvenirs maybe you shouldn't buy too many of the steamed ones because they are prone to get mouldy real fast. The baked ones are okay, actually I still have a few slice of them in my fridge now:X

Sushi Flash SS2

Looks like after a lousy October, November seems to be treating me real nice! I settle lots of paperworks today at uni to ensure smooth enrollment! All is going good.

Also, I paid my own amenities fee! RM200 may not be a lot for other people but somehow when I came out with that RM200, I felt the pride because I'm all grown up and at last I don't have to burden my parents anymore:D Thank God!

Anyway, even with the scholarship I would have to save up because I'm still not sure what I'll need for my PhD. If I get the government grant then that's a plus point but if I don't that's still fine. So back to the topic, if you are scrooging like me but craving for sushi then you can try this place out!

Sushi Flash
64 Jalan SS2/67

Sushi Flash SS2 taken from Google

This is a rather new store in SS2 I think it sprouted somewhere last month or 2 months back. I read that they already have an earlier established outlet in SS15- same row as McD it seems.

Sushi on rotating belt

I like the fact that they have a variety of sushi on the rotating belt unlike some Sushi King outlets that has the sameeeee thing rotating. There is a menu there on your table so you can also order for other food if you don't feel lie having sushi.

Side Order

There are rice bowls (Donburi) available too! I think I saw udon but there isn't ramen on the menu.

Cups, chopsticks, Soysauce, Tissue, Menu all ready at your seat

The cups are already there for you so it's very much of self service if you want green tea. Green tea is charged at RM2 (refillable). Theres both hot and cold green tea rotating on the belt so you can just grab it, fill up and the place them back on the rotating belt.

See the green tea rotating?

This is a budget sushi store so sushi on the Beige plate cost RM2 and the ones on the Red or Black plates cost RM3. The quality of the sushi is better than the ones you find in Aeon Supermarkets but less tasty then the ones in Sushi King.

BUT! When we are talking about variety of sushi and ingredients used vs price, Sushi Flash wins both Aeon and Sushi King hands down!

Here are some pictures of sushi that we had:

Not too sure what this is, RM3

So we started off with this unknown sushi LOL My sister picked this plate because she said it looks nice grilled. It isn't grilled per say. They just use those kitchen torch (The ones the used in Manhattan Fish Market) to flame up the fish a little. I think the fish is salmon.

Lobster Salad Gunkan (I think), RM3

Ebi Fried Maki (I think), RM3

I thought this maki was a little pricey since they only gave me two sad pieces. On the online menu I think I saw three, but it taste okay. Just that they gave a lot of rice if compared to the proportion of fillings/ toppings.

Kani Kama Mayo Gunkan, RM2

Chuka Lidako (Baby Octopus) Gunkan, RM2

Baby Octopus Gunkan didn't taste similar to the ones I usually have at Sushi King. This is less chewy and more mushy, I've no idea why.

Aburi Salmon Mentaiko Nigiri, RM3

The best sushi I had that night has got to be the Salmon Mentaiko sushi!!!! Finally, a sushi that has the right proportion of rice to toppings. The fish soft and nice, the mentaiko was sufficient too! No doubt I won't complain if they were to slap on more mentaiko:P

Chuka Kurage (Jellyfish) Gunkan, RM2

Golden Egg, RM3

They have a copycat of Sushi King's Golden Ball and they call it Golden Egg, LOL. This taste very much like the ones at Sushi King but the egg that they use is different.

At Sushi Flash, the egg is smaller and it has less texture than then ones at Sushi King. Good alternative, but I'd still opt for the original Golden Ball at Sushi King. I don't mind paying RM1 extra for a better egg.

Sweet Sauce

I usually would have to have Nitsume sauce when I'm having my sushi but not all sushi stores have them e.g. Sakae Sushi doesn't have them so I'd never return LOL Considering that Sushi Flash is a budget sushi joint, I assumed that they won't have it either.

Only after finishing all our sushi my sister realised that they have Nitsume sauce that we wanted! I had to try it so I purposely took another plate of sushi just to dunk it in my holy grail sauce. To my dismay it was soooooooo sweet!

Mad sweet! As in not seafood sweet but sugar sweet:(

But all in all, this place would still do if you're on a budget and you crave sushi (till your hands shiver, that kind).
